Welcome to the Sename Foundation, where education for girls and underrepresented communities in Africa truly matters. Because every girl, every young person, deserves to dream, learn and succeed.
The Sename Foundation for Education, Science, Girls and Community Development strives for a world where every African child, in particular young girls, no matter their background, can learn, dream and reach their full potential.
Through the creation, funding and management of educational, cultural and social institutions, the Foundation invests in education, dignity and autonomy for the next generation.
As a true catalyst for community transformation, its work extends to social development, vocational training and the prevention of exclusion, with the aim of unlocking the potential of young people across Africa.
Convinced that the continent’s sustainable development depends on the development of its human capital, the Foundation is dedicated to preparing youth for the jobs of tomorrow, building stronger, more inclusive and forward-looking communities.
Based in Comè, Benin, our flagship school supports girls aged 3 to 18 and fosters innovation beyond the traditional learning environment.
Our community center serves as a hub for creativity and inclusion, offering programs in literacy, vocational training, entrepreneurship and community-building sports initiatives.
The Foundation also supports initiatives aimed at creating an ecosystem that nurtures the potential of young girls across the continent.

Founder, Sename Foundation

Welcome to the Sename Foundation.
Sename [pronounced sɛ.na.mɛ, Seh-nah-meh] means “God gives” or “Gift of God.”
It is the affectionate name my great-grandmother used to call me, a remarkable woman born around 1906, who, against the conventions of her time, believed that the birth of a girl was a blessing, not a burden. In an era when daughters were often overlooked, she chose to cherish and celebrate them.
Through her vision and tenderness, she planted a seed, the belief that every girl carries within her a divine spark, a gift to the world. The Sename Foundation was named in honor of that legacy of love, faith, and conviction: that every girl, no matter her background, deserves to be seen, valued, empowered, and given access to quality education and the opportunity to dream without limits.
When I created this foundation, my goal was to build a bridge between potential and opportunity. By investing in education that nurtures excellence, creativity, and innovation, we aim to equip a new generation of African girls with the skills and confidence to shape their own future and the future of the continent.
We deeply believe that knowledge is the greatest wealth of a nation, and that professional inclusion is not merely an end in itself but a path toward empowerment and dignity. This is why our initiatives support the creation of a free school of excellence for girls from vulnerable backgrounds, as well as technical training, mentorship, and pathways to employment and entrepreneurship.
When you invest in a girl, she reinvests in her community. This conviction guides everything we do.
We are more than an institution; we are a movement. A movement for transformation, inclusion, and dignity. Together with our partners, we are reimagining what education can look like when it is rooted in African realities and powered by hope.
I invite you to join us on this journey.
Thank you all for your engagement.
Thank you to our partners for their trust.
And thank you to everyone who, in one way or another, contributes to this shared mission.
